Fire Barriers and Curtains are available in a mineral fibre, plain faced, foil faced and coated glass fibre to achieve up to two hours fire protection. These are used as a fire resistant barrier to prevent the spread of flames or smoke both vertically and horizontally. Fire curtains are mineral fibre barriers these are normally 50/60 mm thick and are hung vertically and supported to the head or soffit. If a fire was to occur, gaps between the walls and floor can create air which can enable the spread of the fire or smoke.

Cavity Barriers will be installed between the edge of a concrete floor and the building exterior. Usually, Cavity Barriers are included in the construction of a new building. However, with old buildings they tend not to comply with best practices.
