Bowmer & Kirkland are currently undertaking construction of a new commercial site dubbed ‘the Hanging Gardens of Salford’ this is due to a design that will see the scheme covered in 4,000 square metres of vertical foliage, the largest living wall in Europe.

The building costs are estimated to be around the £32m. Providing 115,000 square feet of office space and ground-floor retail units. The final build will run exclusively on renewable energy and will include Passivhaus-standard insulation, according to the developer. The tower has also been selected as a London Energy Transformation Initiative pioneer – a network aimed at meeting zero-carbon goals in the construction industry.

Fortifire Solutions are excited to be working alongside Bowmer & Kirkland on this innovative building and asked to package an Intumescent solution for fire protection, to help the building withstand extreme heat and fire damage. Intumescent paint was applied to the steel structure to provide bespoke solutions for various areas and needs of the building and the elements of the weather.
